Foundations
Foundations is for children new to Bharatanatyam. The first term focuses on the Aramandi (half-sit) posture, the body's alignment, and the first adavus — the building blocks every Bharatanatyam dancer learns. Children also learn to recognise simple taalams by clapping along.
What they learn this year
- Aramandi posture and basic body alignment
- Tatta adavus 1–4 with correct foot rhythm
- Recognising and clapping Adi Taalam
- Anjali, Pataka and three further hand mudras
- Performing a short item at the term recital
